TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – An illegal campfire on Mount Lemmon caused the 429 Fire early Friday, July 4.
U.S. Forestry confirmed crews responded to the fire at 9:45 a.m., and it was extinguished 15 minutes later.
While the fire did expand past the camping area, it was contained quickly.
Some campers were cited for unauthorized campfire and unauthorized activity in a closed area, according to the U.S. Forest Service. The suspect could also face jail time, as there have been fire restrictions on all federal and state land for months…
