A $2 a month increase in Oro Valley’s stormwater utility fee would help the utility become “less reliant on grants moving forward,” Chief Financial Officer Dave Gephart told a July 15 Zoom audience.
Town staff is proposing the first stormwater fee increase since 2016. The charge for a single-family residence would go from $4.50 to $6.50 per month. If approved by the town council, it would generate an additional $691,000 a year for the utility, which has a current annual budget of $1.5 million.
Additional money would be spent to repair and improve stormwater infrastructure, making Oro Valley “more storm-resilient and safe,” Town Engineer Paul Keesler told 15 people on the call. “Every improvement to drainage facilities makes the community that much safer.”…
