The highly anticipated return of Fuel Altereds to historic Tucson Dragway is being made possible by a collaboration between track owner Jim Hughes and CHAOS (Funny Car Chaos & Nitro Chaos) promoters Chris & Tera Graves. The Inaugural Fuel Altered CHAOS is set for Friday and Saturday, November 14-15th and will deliver the biggest Altered show in track history and put a modern twist on a tradition that started in the 1970s in Tucson.
The CHAOS brand’s popular ‘run whatcha’ brung’ format has proven itself since inception in 2017 and is finally moving westward. The excitement for this event continues to build, supported by an ever-growing pre-entry list that is now over 30 altereds of all kinds from across the country. A wild list of winged warriors from Washington and Utah to West Virginia and Texas and everywhere in between have signed up for their shot at a historic win at the Inaugural Fuel Altered Chaos. They will be met my a strong contingent of locally based entries from Arizona, New Mexico and California.
When initially announced, the event was set to qualify the quickest 16 cars on the property, but with the impressive pre-entry list, Hughes and Graves have agreed to pad the purse to a now $35,000 in guaranteed money by adding a third field to the main event. Fuel Altered Chaos will now qualify the quickest 24 cars after three qualifying sessions in November. Those 24 cars will be separated into three eight-car fields and compete eighth mile. The top eight qualifiers will compete in the CP-Carrillo ‘A’ Field, the number nine through 16 qualifiers in the ‘B’ Field and number 17 through 24 qualifiers in the ‘C’ Field…
