“Letters to Mom:” Tucson WWII veteran’s legacy uncovered

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – When your parents are both World War II veterans, stories of service, sacrifice, and survival are woven into your daily life.

For Tara Harper of Tucson, she says it wasn’t until after her father’s passing that she discovered a piece of family history that would forever change how she viewed the war, and the man she called dad.

In 2018, shortly after her father Roy Meyer passed away at the age of 93, Harper uncovered a forgotten footlocker tucked away in her family home. Inside she found handwritten letters her father had sent to his mother, Harper’s grandmother, while serving overseas as a young airman in WWII…
