TUCSON, Ariz. – Scattered thunderstorms could bring brief downpours to the Tucson area Saturday before extreme heat takes over early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday, mainly after late morning, with isolated lightning possible across Pima County. The strongest cells could create slick roads on stretches of I-10 and reduced visibility during the afternoon commute.
Saturday night brings only a slight chance of storms before skies clear. By Sunday, high temperatures climb into the upper 90s, and by Monday and Tuesday Tucson will see highs of 100°F to 102°F under mostly sunny skies. Calm mornings followed by gusty northwest winds are expected in the afternoons…
