Mayes issues letter to Tucson apartment complexes over poor living conditions

Attorney General Kris Mayes last week issued cease-and-desist letters to four Tucson apartment complexes to address their poor living conditions.

According to the letters, the conditions at these properties include mold growth, exposure to asbestos and lack of air conditioning. In a statement, Mayes says her “office will not hesitate to take legal action against landlords who put profits over people.”

The cease-and-desist letter also mentions potential violations of the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, and deceptive advertising under the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act…
