Low-income Tucson residents can get more help with their water bills

Water officials in Tucson say they’re expanding a program for low-income residents to get help on their utility bills.

The Tucson Water Community Assistance Resources for Economic Stability — or TW CARES — works with low-income water customers to bring down their water bills.

Officials say the expanded program will increase eligibility beyond its current three-tier system that uses federal poverty standards. The new system will introduce changes, including an automatic 40% deduction for households using public assistance programs like Section 8 and SNAP…
