Arizona Air Force contractor struggles as government shutdown drags on

TUCSON, Ariz. — The federal government shutdown has reached its 16th day, affecting hundreds of thousands of Americans, including workers in Southern Arizona.

Joey Morrissette, a U.S. Army veteran and current Air Force contractor at Tucson’s Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, is one of those struggling to make ends meet. Morrissette, who works on vehicles for the 48th Pararescue Squadron, has been without work since Oct. 1 due to the shutdown.

Morrissette is using his paid time off to keep money coming in, but this was time he planned to save for his possible wedding next year…
