Former CEO sentenced to prison for embezzling millions from Native American organization

TUCSON, Ariz. — The former CEO of a health care provider for the White Mountain Apache Tribe has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for an embezzlement scheme.

Kevin McKenzie, 49, of Tucson was ordered to pay $33 million in restitution when he was sentenced on Oct. 16 in federal court after pleading guilty to embezzlement and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Arizona.
