Driver who hit power poles on Southeast side, a minor, allegedly had stolen gun

UPDATE (3:31 p.m., Dec. 30): According to a news release from Pima County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy had pulled over the driver while conducting traffic enforcement near Cienega High School. The driver, a juvenile, was driving 65 miles per hour in a 35 miles-per-hour zone.

The deputy located a handgun on the passenger-side floorboard of the vehicle. The deputy secured the handgun and asked the driver if there were any additional weapons in the vehicle. The driver drove off at a high rate of speed.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department did not pursue, but did still have the recovered gun…
