Nancy Guthrie suspect likely exhibiting these suspicious behaviors: Profiler

(NewsNation) — The masked suspect seen in the Nancy Guthrie surveillance images hasn’t been identified yet, but he may be easy to detect based on the way he’s behaving now, former FBI profiler James Fitzgerald says.

Fitzgerald said the pressure of being under the microscope may be causing the suspect to exhibit certain telltale characteristics, such as observable mental strain and sleep disruption; potential substance abuse; and “over-explaining whereabouts or creating unsolicited alibis.”

The suspect may also be hypervigilant about police, he could be deep-cleaning his vehicle or residence and may be throwing away or destroying bags, clothes or other items, Fitzgerald added.

“If someone recognizes this behavior … look at the video,” he told “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” on Wednesday. “If the person has a Tucson connection, even tangentially, call the 800 tipline because the FBI would want to talk to you about this.”

Fitzgerald, a retired FBI agent, is credited with helping to crack the “Unabomber” case in the 1990s. He and a colleague, retired special agent Raymond Carr, recently worked up a profile for the masked man seen Feb. 1 in surveillance video taken outside Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, home…
