Trial date set for UA triple hit-and-run suspect

The man accused in a deadly hit-and-run near the University of Arizona campus, Louis John Artal, appeared in court Friday.

The October collision took the life of three UA students, Josiah Patrick Santos, Sophia Akimi Troetel and Katya Rosaura Castillo-Mendoza.

The students were crossing a marked crosswalk at Euclid Avenue and 2nd Street when Artal ran into them with his Porsche and fled the scene. The installation of a High-Instensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) at the intersection is currently underway, and is expected to be completed by early May…
