Diocese of Tucson installs and ordains new bishop, first one in 73 years

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Thousands packed St. Augustine Cathedral Friday for the ordination and installation of the Diocese of Tucson’s eighth bishop, James Misko.

He was also the first priest to be ordained as a bishop in Tucson in 73 years.

Misko, an Austin-based priest, was appointed by Pope Leo on Dec. 22, 2025. His ordination in Tucson marks a rare occasion for the diocese, according to his predecessor…
