Woman says car with 58 bundles of meth was gift from boyfriend

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – A woman who says she was on a shopping trip in a car her boyfriend recently bought for her is having to explain why 58 bundles of illicit drugs were hidden in the vehicle.

Federal officials came in contact with Marissa Gissele Alonso after she drew inordinate attention to herself at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona.

Meth ring in oil-rich town dismantled

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer said he was processing a motorist seeking entry into the United States from Mexico when another vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, crossed a buffer area and pulled into the inspection booth without clearance.

The CBP officer turned his attention to the woman driving the Hyundai, who identified herself as an American citizen even though her vehicle was bearing Sonora, Mexico, license plates…
