Transparency in question as TUSD lands on highest-risk list

TUCSON, Ariz. — Questions are mounting about Tucson Unified School District’s finances after a state report placed the district on the highest financial risk list.

Chief Investigative Reporter Valerie Cavazos emailed every governing board member requesting an on-camera interview to discuss the Auditor General’s findings.

The district responded the following day, saying no board members were available — but at least one board member had already replied directly to Cavazos and said he was available.
