Tucson Medical Center sees increase in counterfeit car seats

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Tucson Medical Center has flagged 18 counterfeit car seats so far this year, including eight in March. Hospital nurses and safety professionals are discovering the fake car seats during required safety checks before new parents leave with their babies.

Baylee Dorsey, a child passenger safety technician and community outreach specialist at Tucson Medical Center, said the counterfeit products are getting harder to spot.

“Most parents have no idea and if people online are marketing the products because they’re making money off of marketing the products, they’re more likely to trust them,” Dorsey said.
