As Nancy Guthrie remains missing three months after her abduction in Tucson, Ariz., a criminologist recently floated a “red herring” theory suggesting that the perpetrator had no idea the 84-year-old was Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mother.

“This person knew her. I don’t think she knew this person,” Doran speculated. “And it could have been somebody who saw her on the Today show with her daughter, Savannah, maybe not even have met her. Could have been an Uber driver that she didn’t leave a big enough tip for. Could have been any of hundreds of service workers. I mean, she’s been in this house since the ’70s.”…
