TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Police arrested 29-year-old Quinton Smith accused of firing shots from an SUV, crashing into a utility pole and running from officers Saturday night.
Police say officers responded around 8:39 p.m. June 28 to a report of someone firing shots from a white Chevrolet Tahoe near East 66th Place and South Peoria Avenue. No victims were located, but officers began searching for the suspect.
Reports of shots fired
According to Tulsa Police, a caller reported seeing a man firing a gun from the Tahoe while it traveled westbound on East 66th Place.
Officers searched the area but did not locate the vehicle before additional calls came in about a crash.
Crash leads officers to suspect
Minutes later, police responded to reports of a white Tahoe that had crashed into a pole near East 31st Street and South Peoria Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the SUV abandoned. Investigators say the driver had fled the scene, leaving a handgun on the driver’s-side floorboard.
