TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa police arrested two women after officers say they fled from a traffic stop, switched drivers during the pursuit and crashed into a van carrying two children. Police said 24-year-old Piper Barrett and 28-year-old Brittney Wolfe are now facing multiple charges.
The crash happened July 16 after officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by a woman wanted on a felony warrant. Three people in the other vehicle, including two children, suffered minor injuries.
Traffic stop turns into pursuit
According to Tulsa Police, an officer spotted 24-year-old Piper Barrett driving eastbound on Admiral Boulevard near Memorial Drive at about 3:05 p.m.
The officer recognized Barrett and knew she had an active felony warrant. Police also said the Taurus had an object obstructing the driver’s view through the windshield, prompting officers to initiate a traffic stop.
When officers activated their emergency lights and sirens near East 21st Street and South Sheridan Road, Barrett did not stop. Police said they ended the initial pursuit after she began running red lights.
