Sand Springs council approves two more license plate cameras amid privacy pushback
SAND SPRINGS, Okla. – Sand Springs City Council voted Monday night to approve the policing plan for this year, which adds two more license plate reading cameras in town, bringing the total from six to eight.

Councilors heard from residents worried about privacy before approving the Sand Springs policing plan. Council members want Police Chief Todd Enzbrenner to review the city’s contract with the camera company to make sure driver information isn’t being shared beyond law enforcement.
How the cameras work
Chief Enzbrenner gave a presentation explaining how his department uses the license plate reading cameras.
“Flock is a law enforcement tool used to support investigations involving crimes, missing persons, and Amber Alerts,” Enzbrenner said. “Its purpose is to notify law enforcement when a vehicle associated with criminal activity is detected in the area.”
