Nearby business owner describes damage, calls for safety answers after explosion

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — A business owner near the site of an explosion says the force of the blast damaged his building, shut down operations for a day and raised concerns about the safety of nearby businesses.

Johnny Davis, the plant manager and owner of a family business that has operated since 1954, said he was out of state when he received the call about the explosion. When he returned, he found broken windows, possible gas leaks and equipment shifted by the blast.

“We had gas leaks. We had 12 or 13 windows knocked out,” Davis said. “It was like a bomb. It was no small explosion.”…
