Design minds: Patrick “Pat” Fox was an architect of social consciousness and artistry

Pat Fox stamped Tulsa with his creativity and compassion. As an architect, he was bold and adventurous. As a civic leader, he was committed to social justice and individual dignity.

Fox was born in 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana, shaped by Southern sensibilities of good manners and Southern cooking. In high school he travelled the country racing go-karts. As an adult with an enduring love of cars, he bought and sold Porsches.

A summer-long tour of Europe with high school classmates gave him a lifelong devotion to artistic beauty and the wider world. He was an avid traveler and instilled artistic appreciation in all four of his children. “Everywhere you look you can find beauty,” he told them…
