Some Tulsa teachers are struggling to afford homes — Habitat for Humanity is working to fix it
TULSA, Okla. – Green Country Habitat for Humanity announced Tuesday that itsEducation Begins With Home program is expanding beyond Tulsa Public Schools to include Union Public Schools and seven Tulsa-area charter schools, backed by a $1 million gift from the Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation.
A program built on retention, not just recruitment
The program launched in 2025 in partnership with Tulsa Public Schools, helping 14 teachers become homeowners in its first year. With the new funding, organizers say they can help roughly 50 more educators with down payment and closing cost assistance.
