CLEVELAND, Okla. — The Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said human remains found outside Cleveland in Oct. 2023 have been identified as a Tulsa man who was reported missing in 2021.
The remains were identified as Martin Young, who was reported missing in Sept. 2021 , according to PCSO.
PCSO said while Young’s cause of death is “unknown,” foul play is not suspected.
Young was reported missing after his car was found in a private driveway near Keystone Lake off Highway 64 in 2021, PCSO said.
The area was searched multiple times with the help of other law enforcement agencies, search and rescue groups and tracking dogs, but Young was never found, according to PCSO.
On Oct. 13, 2023, PCSO received a call about possible human remains in a wooded area south of Cleveland , about three miles south from where Young’s car was found, PCSO said.
The caller told deputies he was scouting a hunting lease when he discovered the remains, PCSO said.
When deputies arrived, a request was made for assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations (OSBI) and Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, PCSO said.
