A teenager who turned himself in to Tulsa Police for a fatal shooting involving a man and teenager back in June had his murder charge dismissed.
Judge Clifford Smith granted the motion submitted by 16-year-old Terry Buckley Jr.’s attorney to dismiss the murder charges on Tuesday.
Tulsa County court documents said the State failed to present sufficient evidence at the preliminary hearing that Buckley Jr. met the requirements for first-degree murder.
Buckley said he was not involved in the murder and the judge agreed.
He was originally charged with first-degree murder, shooting with intent to kill, and first-degree robbery for the shooting that happened on June 2nd.
Officers said Terry and his 17-year-old cousin at the time Treston Buckley went to the victims’ homes to trade guns with them but during the exchange, the victims were shot.
Investigators said a 34-year-old man was killed, and his 16-year-old son went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The current condition of the 16-year-old is not known.
