Oklahoma Adds to 2024 Class With Local OL Commitment

Oklahoma’s incoming freshman class got a little bigger on Friday.

Evan McClure , a decorated offensive lineman and three-time state champion at Bixby, OK, announced that he’s committed to the Sooners.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound McClure will be a preferred walk-on for Bill Bedenbaugh , Seth Littrell and Brent Venables in the 2024 class. He received that offer in December, as well as one from the University of Arkansas.

He’ll arrive on campus in June, he told AllSooners on Friday night.

“It was a slow process,” McClure said. “I was looking to get some more offers maybe and figure out kind of where I was going. And then OU kind of hopped in with the PWO and I started liking it a lot. I went down there and visited last Friday. Just, Coach B is someone I’d really like to play for, and that’s why I chose there.”

McClure said he’d been recruited by OU over the past few months, and he reportedly had Division I offers from Akron and Air Force Academy. OU’s offer to join as a preferred walk-on, with a potential NIL deal to help things financially speaking, was all he needed to see.
