The Pogues exhibition to make US debut at Bob Dylan Center for St Patrick’s Day

An exhibition about Shane MacGowan and The Pogues is set to make its US premiere with an exclusive showing at the Bob Dylan Center in Oklahoma.

They Gave The Walls A Talking: The Extraordinary Story of The Pogues and Shane MacGowan opens at the center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 8. It will be the center’s first special exhibition to focus on a musical artist other than Bob Dylan.

The exhibition chronicles the evolution of The Pogues , the rise of punk rock and the role of the Irish diaspora on the music scene. It is currently on display in Dublin ’s EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and opened just weeks after the death of The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan.

MacGowan died at the age of 65 on November 30, 2023, at his home in Dublin.

The exhibition features contributions from band members their family members, including MacGowan ‘s wife Victoria Mary Clarke and sister Siobhan MacGowan. His friends Nick Cave, Imelda May, Glen Hansard, producer Steve Lillywhite and the family of the late Frank Murray, the band’s original manager, also contributed.
