Tulsa, OK – In a striking display of defiance and danger, 67-year-old Andrew Leon Roberts of Tulsa has been sentenced to a decade behind bars following his deliberate attacks on police vehicles, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced today. The sentencing, handed down by U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell, includes 120 months of imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release for Roberts. He faced charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country and Destruction of Property While Placing Life in Jeopardy in Indian Country.
The series of events leading to Roberts’ arrest unfolded dramatically, with witnesses reporting his aggressive attempts to run people off the road. His assault escalated when he encountered two Tulsa Police officers transporting a detainee, sideswiping one patrol car and attempting to rear-end and then T-bone the second. Although Roberts initially fled the scene, his violent spree continued later that day in a residential neighborhood.
