Savannah Asher, an Oklahoma State University (OSU) student, has been named a Senior of Significance. Asher faced many obstacles in her journey to become an Air Force pilot. Initially, she didn’t plan to attend OSU. However, after not getting into the Air Force Academy, she chose OSU and its ROTC scholarship program.
Asher was attracted to OSU’s Air Force ROTC program. She decided to study aerospace administration and operations, focusing on aviation management. The program provided her with a broad understanding of the aviation industry, preparing her for various roles in aviation management.
Asher appreciated the supportive community within the aviation education program, especially during her challenging first year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The program’s teaching approach provided practical experience. Her dedication to her studies and love for aviation led her to become a Student Ambassador for the First-Year Seminar for aviation majors.
Tom Joyce, an advisor at OSU, commended Asher’s mentorship to first-year aviation students. He highlighted her evident passion for aviation and the potential impact of her mentorship. Asher also took on leadership roles in the AFROTC and CEHS and mentored students in her hometown of Tulsa.
