US-169 shut down between Pine and 36th Street North following deadly rollover crash

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police said US-169 is shut down between Pine Street and 36th Street North following a deadly crash involving an overturned truck carrying rocks.

Captain Richard Meulenberg with Tulsa Police told FOX23 at the scene the truck had some kind of blowout or mechanical failure that caused it to lose control and hit the center median. The truck then rolled and caught on fire.

Officers are diverting southbound traffic off at 36th Street North and northbound traffic is being diverted off at Pine Street, Tulsa Police said.

“We know this is going to seriously impact the evening commute,” Tulsa Police said. “Owasso drivers should plan to take an alternate route for the next several hours as Officers process the scene and get the road safely reopened.”

FOX23 will update with more information as it becomes available.
