TULSA, Okla. — All lanes of Highway 169 are back open after being shut down for hours following a deadly crash on Thursday.

It happened around 3 p.m. between East Pine and 36th Street North when a large truck carrying rocks overturned.

Lanes were closed for more than six hours as police investigated and cleaned up the wreck.

Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said the crash happened after either a tire blowout or a mechanical failure.

“The point of where the mechanical problem took place, whether it was a blowout or something else we aren’t certain, was approximately 100 yards. It was quite a distance from where the truck suffered the problem to where it came to a point of rest. After it rolled over, it threw debris on both sides of the highway,” Meulenberg said.
