More charges filed against former Tulsa Co. juvenile detention officer

UPDATE (10/4/24) — More charges were filed against a former Tulsa County juvenile detention officer on Thursday.

Jonathan Hines, former detention officer at the Family Justice Center for Juvenile Justice (FCJJ) in Tulsa, was arrested in April for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old resident at the juvenile detention center.

Since the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in April, more victims have been identified.

According to an affidavit, another victim reported multiple incidents with Hines when he was a resident at the juvenile detention center. The victim was 15 at the time.

The victim said Hines allowed him to use his personal cell phone to call his ex-girlfriend, and later offered to let him use his phone only in exchange for sexual contact, which the victim refused, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Hines also asked the 15-year-old to have sex with him in exchange for money. The victim reported Hines said he could put all of the residents in their rooms and use the excuse of needing to plunge the victim’s toilet as a cover to engage in sexual activity, which the victim refused.
