Cases of whooping cough confirmed at Rejoice Christian School

OWASSO, Okla. — Cases of whooping cough, also known as pertussis, were confirmed at Rejoice Christian School.

On Thursday October 10, Rejoice sent out a letter to students and staff to inform the school community of the cases.

Rejoice Christian School shared the following statement:

“Rejoice Christian School is taking preventative measures to slow the spread of pertussis, including cleaning desks and shared surfaces more frequently. The cases are isolated to less than ten students on the elementary campus. Per the health department, the entire state has seen a surge in pertussis.

The safety and well-being of our families is our utmost priority. Rejoice Christian School follows all applicable state laws and State Department of Health guidelines on school attendance and immunization requirements.

As we navigate this time, we are reminded of God’s promises of protection and healing through His Word. Psalm 91:4 assures us, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings, you will find refuge: His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
