Officers arrest an alleged shoplifter who police say led them on a high speed chase

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Officers say they arrested an alleged shoplifter who attempted to steal $300 worth of tools from Lowe’s before leading officers on a high-speed chase.

On Oct. 6, the Broken Arrow Police Department responded to a shoplifting call from the Lowe’s located at East Hillside.

Officer Peterson and a fellow officer traveled to the store and reported they saw a man attempting to get away with $300 worth of tools from the store.

The suspect, later identified as Lance Burks, sped away from the scene in his car with officers following behind.

According to officers, Burks then led them on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of 90 mph, driving through a field and also striking other cars as he attempted to get away.

To prevent the chase from escalating further into oncoming traffic, Peterson decided to pin Burks’s car to stop the chase.
