UPDATE (11/8/24) — The City of Broken Arrow said crews are working to reopen a part of South Aspen Avenue on Saturday after the road was closed between Washington Street and New Orleans Street due to a water line break.
The City of Broken Arrow Utilities Department employees repaired the 8-inch water line break that ruptured and caused buckling on South Aspen Avenue on Thursday night, the City said.
About 900 feet of Aspen Avenue between Washington Street (91st) and New Orleans Street (101st) has been closed to the the buckling in the roadway and to allow crews to dig a trench spanning the width of Aspen Avenue to access the water line.
That section of roadway remains closed as crews continue filling the trench and covering it with a safe drivable surface, the City said.
“Despite the inclement weather hampering crews efforts on Friday, our goal is to reopen some of Aspen Avenue on Saturday,” the City of Broken Arrow said.
The City said in the meantime, drivers are encouraged to detour around Aspen Avenue between Washington Street and New Orleans Street via Olive Avenue to the west and Elm Place to the east.
