Some Berryhill residents raise concerns about Election Day after $2 million bond passed

BERRYHILL, Okla. — People in Berryhill are raising concerns about Election Day, saying several people didn’t get the correct ballot with an important bond question on it.

The bond would give $2 million to their fire department from a tax increase, people are saying not everyone in Berryhill got to vote on it.

Berryhill residents living in the fire district were supposed to receive a second ballot with the bond question on it.

After the bond passed, some people who live in the district claim they didn’t get that question on their ballot.

The bond had two propositions for a tax increase for those who live within the district that totaled $2 million.

If both passed, it would have a $25 annual tax increase for the average $150,000 home in Berryhill.

The bond passed with 60 percent of votes, 300 more saying “yes” than “no.”

People in Berryhill have been complaining on social media that not everyone who lives in the district got the second ballot.

Some are even claiming they ran out of ballots, and that people who live outside the district got to vote on it.
