Tulsa firefighter searching for answers after being diagnosed with unknown illness

TULSA, Okla. — A female Tulsa firefighter is still looking for answers from doctors after being diagnosed with an unknown illness last year.

FOX23 spoke with the firefighter about what led up to what she’s going through now.

Emily Loveday has been having seizures almost nonstop since last year.

She said it all started after she was prescribed medicine to treat COVID.

“I thought it was something that I’ll figure out, go back on track and you know it’ll be fine. Once I had that one, I was on a ventilator, in the ICU, and I was like, ‘OK, this is bigger than what we thought,” Loveday said.

Loveday went from saving lives and doing what she loves most to everything changing in seconds, flipping her life upside down.

Loveday got sick in December 2023. She had COVID-like symptoms and was told she was autoimmune. She was then prescribed methotrexate.

She wasn’t told exactly why she was prescribed the medication, but it’s something that is commonly used to treat autoimmune diseases like severe arthritis and certain cancers.
