A Sapulpa man with a history of felony charges is back in jail after police say he held a woman against her will and beat her, telling her he was going to “commit a murder-suicide” and threatened to kill her son.
Dmitry Vladimirovich Kopytin, 42, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, domestic abuse, and felony possession of a firearm on April 20th, but the story starts several days before, on April 16th, when the woman told her parents she was considering leaving Kopytin due to repeated instances of abuse. The Defendant found out about this conversation through listening devices he had placed in her purse. According to police, he admitted to planting the devices.
Two days later, the victim said the abuse started “right when she woke up.” Kopytin took the woman’s phone and hit her in the face, telling her they were “both going to die today.” He then got a gun and made her get into her car and drive him to the liquor store for a bottle of vodka, after which she drove them out to Pretty Water Lake, where things got violent again. According to the arrest affidavit, Kopytin pulled her by her hair and punched her in the back of the head. She began to scream and honk the horn and got out of the vehicle, at which point, Kopytin told her that if she didn’t get back in, he’d kill her son.
She returned to the vehicle and, according to the report, drove them to the Sapulpa Police Department. While there, the victim said Kopytin made several statements about going inside the department and “shooting everyone inside.” Things turned physical again as they began to fight for control of the firearm. The report says that the victim eventually gained control of the gun, pointed it at Kopytin’s head, and pulled the trigger, but it didn’t fire. She told police that Kopytin punched her “over and over again” as they drove away from the police department…
