Sod Poodles take series over Tulsa with Mother’s Day win

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Sod Poodles closed out their homestand in style Sunday afternoon, defeating the Tulsa Drillers 6-1 at HODGETOWN. Fueled by a four-run fifth inning and nearly five scoreless innings from the bullpen, Amarillo earned its third straight series win and first Sunday home victory of the season.

After falling behind early, the Soddies responded quickly and broke things open in the fifth. RBI hits from Ivan Melendez, Kristian Robinson, and LuJames Groover powered Amarillo’s offense, while relievers Zach Barnes, Luke Albright, and Landon Sims shut the door on Tulsa.

Lady Buffs Swipe the NCAA Division II Regional Title

Tommy Troy extended his hit streak to nine games, while Caleb Roberts matched a career-best with an eight-game streak of his own.
