TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Red Cross shared tips to help people keep their pets safe during high summer temperatures.
“We always tell people that when we have extreme heat, you need to stay cool. You need to stay hydrated and you need to stay connected,” said Tulsa Red Cross spokesman Matt Trotter. “A lot of those safety tips apply to your pets as well. You want to make sure that your pets are not just hanging out outside during this extreme heat with no shade, no water, that kind of thing. If it’s really hot, it might be a situation where even if your pets are primarily outdoor animals, you want to bring them inside to a cooler environment because animals can get heat stroke and other illnesses just like we can from being out in the heat for too long.”
