Norma Eagleton, first woman elected to Tulsa City Commission, dies at 91

TULSA, Okla. — Norma Eagleton, the first women elected to the Tulsa City Commission and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, has died. She was 91. She passed away on August 13.

According to the Oklahoma Historical Society, Eagleton was the first women elected to a voting position when she was elected the Finance and Revenue Commissioner in 1976. She was also the first woman to serve as an Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner. She was appointed to the position by George Nigh in 1979 and held the position for ten years.
