Tulsa Botanic Garden hosting 10th annual Scarecrow Challenge

Autumn may still be weeks away, but preparations are already underway at the Tulsa Botanic Garden. The garden has opened registration for its 10th annual Scarecrow Challenge, a popular competition that invites participants to showcase their creativity during the fall festival.

The scarecrows will line Scarecrow Row as part of Autumn in the Botanic Garden, which runs Sept. 18 through Oct. 30.

How to Enter

Registration is now open and runs through Sept. 12. Individuals and groups can enter for $30 per scarecrow, with set-up and removal assistance included. Participants may also request a hay bale for installation for an additional $20.

Dates to Remember

  1. Registration closes: Friday, Sept. 12, 2025
  2. Installation: Sept. 13–17 during scheduled time slots
  3. On display: Sept. 18–Oct. 30, 2025
  4. Voting closes: Oct. 30, 2025
  5. Winners announced: Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025
  6. Pick-up: Oct. 31–Nov. 3, 2025

Awards and Prizes

Two $200 prizes will be awarded this year: one for People’s Choice and another for Best in Show. Both winners will also receive free entry into the 2026 competition.

Rules and Guidelines

Entries must be able to withstand Oklahoma’s outdoor weather for the six-week festival. The garden encourages family-friendly designs that avoid political or religious messages. Materials such as paper, cardboard and hot glue are not permitted.
