Record rain delay ends with 6-1 Wind Surge loss to Tulsa

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — After a record rain delay of two hours and 14 minutes, the Wichita Wind Surge fell 6-1 to the Tulsa Drillers in a shortened seven-inning game Friday night at Equity Bank Park.

Tulsa struck quickly after the delay, plating three runs in the top of the first on a passed ball, an RBI single from Kyle Nevin, and a sacrifice fly by Chris Newell. Wichita cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning when Kala’i Rosario scored on an infield error, making it 3-1.

Wind Surge starter Alejandro Hidalgo (0-4) took the loss, giving up three earned runs on three hits and three walks with a strikeout in two innings. Gabriel Yanez provided two shutout frames in relief.
