TULSA, Okla. — Gathering Place has announced that it will honor the 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026.
“The Route 66 Centennial is an opportunity for locals and visitors from around the world to connect with one another through the spirit of the Mother Road,” said Julio Badin, Executive Director of Gathering Place. “Tulsa sits at the crossroads of this iconic route, and Gathering Place will host free events and experiences that inspire discovery, foster learning, and celebrate the history and culture of Route 66 throughout the year.”
The park will hold events that they say will “bring the nostalgia of Route 66 to life”. Some of the events are the Route 66 Festival, a sneaker decorating contest, a retro “drive-in” movie night, sand sculpture showcases, and themed fitness classes that highlight swing and western dance.
