Serious Crash on Highway 69 Sends Two to Tulsa Hospitals

PRYOR, Oklahoma ~ A fiery early morning crash on Highway 69 near Walmart left two people hospitalized and shut down traffic for several hours.

At approximately 4:53 a.m., Pryor Creek Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the scene of a serious collision at SE 49th Street. According to preliminary reports, a northbound semi had stopped at a red light in the outside lane when a northbound truck pulling a car hauler failed to stop and slammed into the rear of the semi.

The impact sparked a fire that quickly engulfed the truck and part of the semi. Authorities say the driver of the semi acted heroically, prying open the truck’s driver-side door to free the driver. Pryor Creek Police officers also risked their safety by pulling a passenger from the burning vehicle.

The semi driver was not injured. The truck’s driver was transported by MESTA EMS to a Tulsa hospital, while the passenger was airlifted to another Tulsa facility. Their conditions are not known at this time…
