Organization helps house homeless veterans free of charge

TULSA, Okla. (KFOR) – A non-profit organization in Tulsa has given more than 30 homeless veterans a second chance at life. Heroes Hope started as a church small group and has grown into a nationally recognized organization.

They’ve helped people like Joe Boyer, an Army veteran from Oklahoma. He had plans to go to college on a wrestling scholarship, but was sitting a home one evening when former President George W. Bush started speaking on television.“Bush gave a good speech, and I was just like that’s something I need to go do. Serve our country, be a man,” said Boyer.

A veteran of 3 tours in Vietnam recalls a different homecoming in 1969

James Gaston had a similar story.

“I remember sitting down in the living room, eating a bowl of Cheerios, and seeing it on the news,” said Gaston, who watched the 9/11 attacks unfold on his TV screen…
