Wagoner County investigator recovers $36K for scam victim

WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — A Wagoner County investigator recovered $36,000 for a local scam victim.

On Oct. 2, Wagoner County Lt. J. Hutton was flagged down near Whitehorn Cove by a resident reporting they had been scammed by someone who claimed they were a federal law enforcement agent.

The victim said on Sept. 30, they received a text message from Amazon Prime asking them to confirm at $999 purchase on their credit card. The victim called “Amazon” to deny these charges, as they did not have an Amazon Prime account…
