Tulsa residents face ongoing food insecurity despite end of government shutdown

TULSA, OKLA (KTUL) — The shutdown may be over, but for many here in Tulsa, there is still a struggle to put food on the table.

NewsChannel 8 reached out to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, asking; Is the state actively advocating to the USDA for full November benefits to be paid retroactively, since many Oklahomans only received a partial payment due to the shutdown fight? We have not received a response.

However, on the OKDHS website in the frequently asked questions, as of November 10th, they say it’s unclear whether SNAP benefits will be paid retroactively…
