Kangaroos & Other Animals Unleashed in Oklahoma in 2025

Sure, we see a wide variety of wild animals everywhere in Oklahoma – mountain lions, deer, elk, armadillos, the list goes on. But at this point, we should call 2025 the “year of the kangaroo” for the Sooner state.

Take a look at some viral moments and hilarious run-ins with an animal we likely never would’ve imagined would be running loose in our streets. To be fair, these animals weren’t supposed to be out galavanting; but, with hops like theirs, there’s bound to be an escape or two.

Monday, December 15, officials in Tulsa County, Oklahoma had their hands full. Several deputies tried to wrangle a kangaroo named Martha until her owner came to the rescue.

Videos capture the hilarious roundup. Let’s just say the academy trains officers for almost everything, but probably not trying to wrangle a kangaroo in the middle of the afternoon.

Viral moment on TikTok captures kangaroo wandering in Oklahoma after dark.

Another moment that appears to be near Tulsa, Oklahoma, happened earlier this year in September. A TikTok user recorded her experience spotting a random kangaroo in the middle of a rural road, obviously surprised by the animal’s appearance.
