TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa CountyDistrict Attorney Steve Kunzweiler says former DA Buddy Fallis died over the weekend, at the age of 91.
Elected to office in 1967, Fallis served 14 years as Tulsa’s top prosecutor, handling several notorious cases, including the prosecution in Mayes County of the Girl Scout Murders.
Kunzweiler said Fallis offered him some early advice he’s never forgotten: “You should never do anything else if you’re going to be the D.A. That’s the only job you ought to have. It’s the most important job that your state and your community needs. Don’t ever be using this as a springboard to get into politics for something else.”
Jerry Truster, now the Chief of the Criminal Division for the DA’s office, started his career as an Assistant DA under Fallis.
“He taught me how to be a lawyer. More importantly, he taught me how to be a prosecutor. I’ve never, never forgotten that all the lessons that, I learned from Buddy,” he said…
